2008 Recipient -
Target
For the past five
years, Perspectives has presented a Community
Partnership Award to a local Corporation
honoring the extraordinary contribution that
they have had on the advancement of our
mission: "Breaking the cycle for at-risk
families and children for total family
recovery."
We are proud to
announce that our 2008 recipient is Target.
Over the years,
Target has worked with us to provide
supportive housing and nutrition as well as
other critically needed services to
disadvantaged families and children.
More specifically, Target has been
instrumental in maintaining the enhancing both
our Kids Cafe program and our Supportive
Housing program with an amazing amount of
grants. Since the year 2000, we have received
over one million dollars from Target. We have
also received thousands of dollars of
donations both financially and in-kind through
the Target stores. This award is certainly
long over due and we are very excited
that we add their name to our list of
Community Partnership Award recipients.
Congratulations,
Target! We deeply appreciate your most
generous and caring contribution to our
community.
2007 Recipient -
Cargill
The
Cargill Foundation and Cargill
Employees, for over 3 years, have been
instrumental in the
development and implementation of
Perspectives' programs and have
directly improved the lives of
thousands of families. Volunteer
hours and employee donations from
Cargill's Horizon Mills Non-Grain Feed
Ingredients, Animal Nutrition, and
Cargill Law business divisions have
been vital resource to our work.
The commitment of on-going funding by
the Cargill Foundation totals over
$330,000 over the years.
Cargill's
record of giving is distinguished
among business leadership in corporate
America. We consider ourselves most
fortunate to have acquired the
attention and support of a partner
that nurtures it's own corporate
culture of giving back. Thank you, and
congratulations, Cargill.
2006 Recipient - General
Mills
Perspectives, Inc.
announced recently that General Mills is the winner of the 2006
Community Partnership Award. General Mills has been the source of
key volunteer and financial support to Perspectives for more than 20
years.
General Mills’ employees
have generously provided ongoing volunteer assistance to
Perspectives programs. From offering nutrition workshops to
producing graduation events to hosting book bag drives to scheduling
one-on-one tutoring, the company’s employees have truly adopted the
families of Perspectives.
This past holiday season,
General Mills employees took their support to another level. The
employees of the Meals Division reached out to our Supportive
Housing and Parenting Time families with a grand 53-tree Christmas
tree and decorations delivery in early December. Soon after, they
treated our Kids Connection after-school students with the return of
the General Mills’ holiday store. These trees and gifts brightened
the holidays for the over 160 parents and children who live within
our supportive housing apartments and the many families in the
Parenting Time program.
General Mills, its
Foundation, and its employees have also been substantial financial
supporters, as well. Their gifts to Perspectives since 1978 have
totaled nearly $250,000.
Now in its third year,
Perspectives’ Community Partnership Award is presented annually to
an organization that has provided significant contributions for
Perspectives to further its mission:
To improve the
quality of life for homeless and at risk families and children.
Previous winners included Dorsey & Whitney LLP and Wells Fargo Bank.
The 2006 Award will be officially presented to General Mills at the
Perspectives of Hope event at the Metropolitan Ballroom on October
13, 2006.

St.
Louis Park, MN (June 30, 2005)—Perspectives, Inc., one the largest
nonprofit supportive housing programs in Minnesota, announces Dorsey & Whitney as the winner of its 2005 Community Partnership Award. For the
past 12 years, the firm has provided key pro bono legal assistance to
Perspectives programs, guided its real estate decisions, and offered
ongoing legal counsel.
Perspectives’ President Jeannie Seeley-Smith noted,
“Dorsey & Whitney’s pro bono support has been absolutely critical to our
recent success. The firm has helped us to make wise decisions concerning
our growth while also enabling us to conserve much needed resources for
direct programming to children and families.”
Dorsey
guided Perspectives through the process of acquiring five apartment
buildings and its family center, all in the city of St. Louis Park. The
firm helped in arranging financing of multimillion dollar building
rehabilitation efforts and has also provided ongoing legal counsel to
Perspectives.
Steven E. Carlson, partner in charge
of pro bono activities at Dorsey’s Minneapolis office said, “Over the
past 12 years, 11 of our attorneys have worked with Perspectives on a
variety of real estate, employment, intellectual property and other

has grown in its ability to make a difference in the lives of so many
mothers and children. It’s a privilege for us to work
with a team that
